Shirdi Temple, the most visited temple in India



Shirdi is a town in Indian state of Maharashtra popular for the temple of Shri Sai Baba. This beautiful shrine is built over the samadhi of Shri Sai Baba. Shirdi is located in Ahmadnagar district which is 15 km from Kopergaon and 250 km from Mumbai.
Shirdi, is one of the most popular pilgrimage center in India and most of the people believe the teachings of Shri Sai Baba who was an Indian Guru,yogi and fakir who is regarded as Saint by his devotees. Many people says that he was an incarnation of Lord Krishna and some also says that he was an incarnation of Lord Dattatreya. Every year the temple is visited by millions of devotees and his followers and during the festivals such as Gurupornima and Baba's death anniversary. Shirdi temple is one of the richest temple organizations in India. 
  

History of Shirdi Temple

Earlier in the starting of 19th century, a young bearded man came in Shirdi and took a shelter in a mosque. Nobody knows about this man who hardly speak a single word in the village. The villagers were very curious about him but he never asked for anything and gradually, the curious villagers started offering him food and trying to speak with him but he never respond to anyone. Very soon Baba started advising and sharing his teachings with few elderly peoples of the village. And very soon his simple language of advising and teaching, his special powers of helping poor and needy peoples made this less known fakir to be Shri Sai Baba. Baba performed many miracles in the village such as he bring the eyesight of an elder man and lighted the lamp with water and many. And very soon Baba left his body on his own and he asked his believers to lay his body in the mosque where he lived till his death. The samadhi where his body was laid, today the temple is situated over. This is how Baba came to the village and performed miracles and shows his extra ordinary powers. 

How to Reach?

Today, Shirdi is well connected by all the transportation with the rest parts of the state and the country. There are number of buses available connecting the major cities India such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Solapur, Satara and all. There are abundant and convenient bus packages available from Hyderabad city. Trains fro m all over India are connected to the Shirdi. Shirdi has a station called as Sai Nagar Shirdi. Pune Airport is the nearest portrait to Shirdi from where you can come by bus or trains.

Where to stay?

As many devotees visit this town therefore accommodation facilities are also very demanding and available here. Lodges available by the temple organizations are very famous and preferred because they are in cheap rates but never available as most of the tourists and devotees book in advance taking the crown in notice. There are number of hotels and lodges available near temple that provides excellent facility to their customers. Most of the tourists prefer book hotels in advance from the websites or travel agents.


Shirdi, the popular pilgrimage center in India is a temple worth to visit as you can feel the power of Shri Sai Baba in every corner of this village. Once in lifetime one should visit this temple.

Shirdi is a magical town in Ahmednagar District. It becomes more popular after the death of famous saint 'Sai Baba'. It is said that Sai Baba was God's Descendent on earth with various salutary Powers. Sai Baba use to leave at Shirdi and at the same place taken his last breath. History:


At the beginning of 18th century, a young man with beard and sparkling eyes took shelter in a mosque at Shirdi. He was a stranger for everyone, after few days the curious villegers started calling him 'Fakir', and also offer food to him. Slowly when villegers get aware about his special power of solving the problems of poor needy people this less known fakir was known by the name Shri Sai Baba. He always remains calm, undisturbed, and in the saint's spiritual glory. As the days passed, the villege Shirdi has become a center of pilgrimage. People started realising that he is not an ordinary person, because such powers are not present in a normal human being. Then he started spreading his services throughout, and many people started believing his power. But as every good thing have to end somewhere, same way Baba also left his body by his own on 15th October 1918. Then his body was laid into a Samadhi Mandir, known as Booty.


Though Sai Baba is no more, but still his presence can be experienced through his blessings, and spreading services all over. For getting blessings of such a mytholigical saint many devotees visit Shirdi every year. Along with Sai Baba Temple, Shirdi also hosts a big prasadalaya, where you can get meal of best quality at cheapest rate. It also serves one market where you can get each and every thing of Sai Pooja. Other holy spots like Shani Shingnapur, Nashik, Wani are at a close proximity to Shirdi.
